Positions for Postdoctoral Scholar(The group of Prof. Bing Wang)

The group of Prof. Bing Wang has two positions for postdoctoral scholar. The applicants having experience in ultrahigh vacuum systems and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) or angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) or ultrafast optical spectroscopy will be highly considered. The applicants with other background like growth of low-dimensional materials, heterogeneous catalysis, magnetism of low-dimensional materials are also welcome.

Job Descriptions:

  • Position 1: to study the ultrafast charge transfer and energy transfer at the heterojunction interfaces. This work is aiming at understanding the structure and electronic interaction at the heterojunction interfaces. The successful candidate will use STM, ARPES and ultrafast spectroscopy to investigate the fabrication, structure and electronic dynamics of the 2D van der Waals heterojunction, metal-oxide heterojunction, and etc.


  • Position 2: to develop the ultrafast-STM technique. The successful candidate will be directed to combine a low temperature STM (Unisoku Company) with a femtosecond laser system (Light Conversion Company) to develop the ultrafast STM technique and study the excited states of molecules with a joint space-time resolution.



  • PhD in physics, chemistry, materials science, or related fields.

  • Candidates must have received a PhD within the past three years (36 months) or will receive a PhD before next July.


Preferred qualifications:

  • experience working with one of the following techniques: ultrahigh vacuum STM, ARPES, ultrafast femtosecond optical spectroscopy or photoemission spectroscopy.

  • have published high impact papers in scientific journals.

  • excellent verbal and written communication skills.



A committee will be responsible for the judgment of the applicants’ background and potential. Successful applicants will be employed according to the assignment in three levels of salary.

  • Level 1: distinguished postdoc scholar, 520,000 CNY (~$76,000 USD) per year

  • Level 2: outstanding postdoc scholar, 340,000 CNY (~$50,000 USD) per year

  • Level 3: postdoc scholar, 200,000-300,000 CNY (~$29,000–44,000 USD) per year




The university will give assistance in heath insurances, accommodation, and etc. The kids of the successful applicants can be recruited in the affiliated kindergarten and schools.
