Professor CHEN Lin completed his undergraduate study at Hefei University of Technology, China in 1982 and obtained his Master's degree at Shanghai Institute of Physiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1985. He then acquired his PhD degree at the Department of Communicative Disorders and Sciences, State University of New York at Buffalo, USA in 1995. Dr Lin Chen is currently the director of Auditory Research Laboratory, School of Life Sciences at University of Science and Technology of China. He is also joint-appointed as a faculty member at Division of Bio-X Interdisciplinary Sciences, Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Science at Microscale.

Dr. CHEN Lin is interested in research into the central auditory processing under normal and pathological conditions. His specific research interests include (1) auditory cognitive process of Chinese lexical tones and (2) neural mechanisms of tinnitus. His technical approach includes whole-head EEG recordings from human subjects and patch-clamp recordings from animal brain slice. His research is mainly funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Basic Research Program of China, and Knowledge Innovation Project from Chinese Academy of Sciences.
